KPK Seizes Hundreds of Grams of Gold and 33 Vehicles in Sting Operation at Directorate General of Immigration

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized hundreds of grams of gold bullion during a sting operation (OTT) within the Directorate General of Immigration, under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services. The operation, which began on Tuesday night (2/6), is linked to alleged bribery involving the processing of stay permits for foreign nationals.

“The team secured precious metals in the form of gold. There are approximately hundreds of grams,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Juang Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (3/6). In addition to the gold, KPK investigators also seized various amounts of cash and foreign currency, and have frozen several bank accounts. Budi added that the agency is still calculating the total value of the funds secured during the operation.

The KPK also seized assets consisting of 33 vehicles, including seven cars, 15 motorcycles, and 11 bicycles. This operation marks the 11th sting operation conducted by the anti-corruption agency so far in 2026.

The case originated from alleged fraudulent practices in the processing of Limited Stay Permits (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) at the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta. As of Wednesday night, the KPK has arrested a total of 17 people. The suspects comprise eight state officials or Civil Servants (ASN) and nine private sector individuals suspected of acting as intermediaries.

The KPK also announced that it is currently searching for the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, who is suspected of being linked to the series of operations. Budi Prasetyorkan that Silmy’s alleged involvement relates to his position while leading the Directorate General of Immigration. Intensive interrogations of the arrested parties are ongoing at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building.
