The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) carried out a sting operation (OTT) against Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani over allegations of extortion. The KPK seized gold and foreign currency worth billions of rupiah in the operation.

“The team also secured evidence, among other items in the form of precious metals, as well as cash in both rupiah and foreign currencies, including Australian dollars and Singaporean dollars. The total reaches billions of rupiah,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (10/6/2026).

Etik is currently at the KPK after being caught in the sting operation. The KPK is still examining Etik further.

“The parties who have arrived at the KPK’s Red and White Building are being intensively questioned, whilst several others are still undergoing examination at the Surakarta Police Headquarters,” he said.

The parties caught in the sting operation still hold the status of examinees. The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those caught in the operation.
