The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized five assets linked to a suspected gratuity case within the Secretariat General of the MPR RI, which has implicated former Secretary-General Ma’ruf Cahyono. Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, disclosed that the seized assets include a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a Rubicon car, a guitar valued at Rp10 million, a Brompton bicycle valued at Rp30 million, and electronic evidence in the form of a Samsung Z Fold mobile phone worth Rp20 million. ‘A number of these pieces of evidence are suspected to be proceeds from procurement partners of goods and services within the MPR RI Secretariat,’ Taufik stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday. He added that the KPK also seized evidence related to the financing of a house renovation worth Rp1.9 billion and the wedding reception of Ma’ruf Cahyono’s child, which was held in November 2020. ‘The KPK is continuing to trace assets and evidence related to this case to optimise the recovery of state financial losses,’ Taufik said. The KPK had previously announced the commencement of the investigation into the suspected gratuity case concerning procurement at the MPR RI Secretariat on 20 June 2025. On 23 June 2025, the KPK began summoning witnesses and announced it had named a state official as a suspect. On 3 July 2025, the KPK revealed that the suspect was Ma’ruf Cahyono. The KPK detained Ma’ruf Cahyono on 9 July 2026 at the KPK Detention Centre branch at the Red and White Building. The KPK suspects that Ma’ruf Cahyono received gratuities amounting to approximately Rp37.8 billion during his tenure as MPR Secretary-General.
