The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched two locations in Madiun City in recent days. The coercive measures relate to a case of alleged extortion and gratification implicating the inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi (MD).

“The first search on Monday, 6 April, was at the home of the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Madiun City. This continued on Tuesday, 7 April, when investigators conducted searches at the homes of two private individuals,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Wednesday (8/4).

These searches were conducted to gather evidence. Several items were seized by the investigators. “During the searches, investigators secured a number of electronic evidence items and documents believed to be related to the case,” said Budi.

The KPK has named three suspects in this case: inactive Mayor of Madiun Maidi (MD), Maidi’s trusted aide Rochim Ruhdiyanto (RR), and Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Office of Madiun City Thariq Megah (TM).

In this case, Maidi and Rochim are charged with violating Article 12 Letter e of Law No. 20 of 2021 in conjunction with Article 20 and Article 21 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.

Additionally, Maidi and Thariq are charged with violating Article 12 B of Law 31 of 1999 in conjunction with Law No. 20 of 2021 in conjunction with Article 20 and Article 21 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.

This seizure is a crucial step to dissect the involvement of corporations entangled in the case of obstructing investigations.
