KPK Seizes Documents and Cash in Raid on Deputy Minister's Office
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized documents, electronic evidence, and tens of millions of rupiah during a search of the office of the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections on 9 June 2026. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the seizure was carried out as part of an investigation into an alleged corruption case concerning the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals. ‘From the search of the deputy minister’s office, investigators secured evidence in the form of documents, electronic evidence, and tens of millions of rupiah in cash,’ he said.
Budi explained that on the same date, investigators also searched the West Jakarta Special Class I Non-Immigration Checkpoint (Non-TPI) Immigration Office and the home of suspect Juniadi Sri Priambudi. ‘From the search of the West Jakarta Immigration Office, investigators seized documents and electronic evidence. Meanwhile, from JSP’s home, investigators secured a number of documents,’ he stated.
During the operation, the KPK arrested 17 individuals, comprising eight state officials or civil servants and nine private sector actors suspected of acting as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents. Separately, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim visited the KPK on 3 June 2026 to surrender himself. The suspects are alleged to have gained profits amounting to IDR 145.5 billion from the practice.
The eight suspects include Silmy Karim, who previously served as Director General of Immigration for the 2023-2024 period; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period Saffar Muhammad Godam; Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra; and Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office Ronald Arman Abdullah. Other suspects include Head of a Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Residence Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Limited Stay Permit Transfer Status Team Leader Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Residence Permit Sub-Directorate Staff member Gusti Benardiansyah.
