Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seized a number of documents after searching the Semarang Customs Office and the Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region Customs Regional Office in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday.

“During the searches, investigators secured a number of documents and several electronic items of evidence suspected to be related to an alleged corruption case involving state financial losses in the excise sector,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Friday.

Budi said the KPK had also seized cash during the searches. “The amount is still being counted,” he said.

He did not provide further details on whether the cash had been seized at both search locations or only one of them.

He said the KPK would conduct further analysis of the evidence seized. “The evidence will then be examined and analysed further to strengthen the evidence investigators need to uncover this case,” he said.

The case began when the KPK conducted a sting operation within the Customs and Excise Directorate General in February 2026 and named several people as suspects.

On 21 July 2026, the KPK announced that it was expanding the investigation by issuing two investigation warrants.

By September 2026, several people had been named as suspects in the case: Rizal, head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office; Sisprian Subiaksono, head of the Customs Intelligence Subdirectorate; Orlando Hamonangan, head of Customs Enforcement Section II; Blueray Cargo owner John Field; Blueray Cargo operations manager Dedy Kurniawan; Andri, head of Blueray Cargo’s Import Documentation Team; Budiman Bayu Prasojo, head of the Customs Excise Intelligence Section; Gatot Heroe Hernanda, head of the Kediri Customs Office; and senior customs functional official Ahmad Dedi.

On 28 October 2026, the KPK announced a further expansion of the investigation by issuing a general investigation warrant. It then searched the Kudus Customs Office and PT Djarum’s office in Kudus, Central Java.

On 29 October 2026, the KPK continued its searches at six companies affiliated with PT Djarum in Kudus.

The searches are suspected to be related to state losses in the excise sector estimated at trillions of rupiah.

The KPK is also investigating allegations that PT Djarum parties made payments to customs officials.
