KPK Seizes Cash in Sting Operation Against Rejang Lebong Regent and Deputy Regent in Bengkulu
Jakarta, Kompas.com – The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has seized cash in a sting operation (OTT) that ensnared Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and Deputy Regent Hendri in Bengkulu on Monday, 9 March 2026.
“We also secured evidence, including documents, electronic evidence, and cash,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Budi stated that in the sting operation, the KPK arrested 13 individuals, including Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and Deputy Regent Hendri.
Nine of those arrested were transported to Jakarta for more intensive questioning.
“Of the nine individuals brought to Jakarta this morning, one is a regent, then a deputy regent, and also three other civil servants from the Rejang Lebong Local Government. Then, four others are private sector representatives,” he said.
“This sting operation is believed to be related to project bribery,” he added.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those apprehended in the sting operation.
