Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized cash and electronic evidence from a surprise arrest operation targeting Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari in Bengkulu Province on Monday evening, 9 March 2026.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the operation to journalists on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, stating: “During this arrest operation, the team secured a number of individuals and also collected evidence, including documents, electronic evidence, and cash.”

In total, thirteen people were detained during the operation. They initially underwent preliminary examination at Kepahyang Police Station and Bengkulu Police Station. Subsequently, nine individuals were flown to Jakarta and arrived at KPK headquarters for further investigation.

The nine people brought to Jakarta on Tuesday morning comprise the regent, a deputy regent, three civil servants from the Rejang Lebong district government, and four private citizens. The identities of the detained individuals, apart from the regent, have not yet been disclosed.

KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Nurcahyanto confirmed the arrest, stating: “Yes, the Rejang Lebong Regent,” when questioned on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Under Indonesian criminal procedure law (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of the regional official arrested in the operation.
