KPK Seizes Car Used by Pemalang Regent During Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized a car belonging to Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro (AWI), who has been named a suspect in an extortion case. The car was used by Anom during the series of events in the sting operation (OTT).
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday (5/8/2026) that the black vehicle was seized in Jakarta and will be moved from the KPK building in Kuningan to the KPK’s Rupbasan in Cawang. "The car was seized from suspect AWI, the Regent of Pemalang. The car was seized in Jakarta," he stated.
The KPK had previously named Anom a suspect for extortion after he was caught in the sting operation. He was arrested at a hotel in Jakarta. Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, confirmed during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026) that the regent was secured at the hotel, and that 21 other individuals were also taken in for questioning.
The KPK also discovered money inside Anom’s car that was brought to Jakarta. The commission is open to developing the case towards gratification charges. "We also found other money in the car the Regent brought to Jakarta. Then there was money we found at a media house, the regent’s campaign headquarters during the regional election," he said.
In this sting operation, the KPK secured evidence totalling Rp 2.7 billion, including Rp 300 million in cash at the home of Mohamad Haris, Rp 80 million in cash at a ‘media house’, a bank book in the name of Mohamad Haris suspected to be a holding account containing Rp 670 million, and a suitcase in Anom Widiyantoro’s car containing Rp 451 million in cash secured in Jakarta.
