KPK Seizes Assets Worth Rp22 Billion from Lawmaker Anwar Sadad and Staff in East Java Grant Scandal

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized assets worth approximately Rp22 billion belonging to member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Anwar Sadad and his staffer, Bagus Wahyudiono. The seizure is connected to an alleged corruption case involving the management of grant funds for community groups within the East Java Provincial Government for the 2019–2022 fiscal years.

Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, detailed the seized assets, which include a plot of land in Surabaya valued at Rp4.5 billion, two shophouses in Surabaya worth Rp3 billion, a house in Surabaya valued at Rp4 billion, and an apartment in Malang worth Rp1 billion. The list also includes a sports arena in Probolinggo Regency valued at Rp3 billion, a bulk LPG filling station in Banyuwangi Regency worth Rp2 billion, a house in Surabaya valued at Rp2 billion, a house in Mojokerto Regency worth Rp500 million, and a house in Pasuruan Regency valued at Rp2 billion.

Despite these seizures, the KPK confirmed it will continue to trace the flow of funds and search for other related assets. The case is an expansion of an investigation stemming from a sting operation in December 2022 that targeted Sahat Tua Simanjuntak, the Deputy Speaker of the East Java DPRD for the 2019–2024 period. The KPK has named a total of 21 suspects, though the investigation into one suspect, former East Java DPRD Speaker Kusnadi, was terminated following his death. As of 22 July 2026, the KPK has detained seven of the remaining 20 suspects.
