JAKARTA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) discovered 8,500 Singapore dollars in the room of Winarko, head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in South Jakarta. The discovery followed an alleged corruption case concerning the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals.

“The head of the South Jakarta Immigration Office,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Taufik made the statement after KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo had merely said that the anti-graft agency seized 8,500 Singapore dollars from the South Jakarta Immigration Office during a search on 4 August 2026.

“From the search at the South Jakarta Immigration Office, investigators also secured cash in foreign currency amounting to 8,500 Singapore dollars,” Budi said earlier.

Previously, the KPK carried out a sting operation on 2-3 June 2026 related to alleged corruption in the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals. The operation was the eleventh sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.
