KPK Searches West Lombok Regent's Office in Graft Probe
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the West Lombok Regent’s Office on Thursday (23/7/2026) as part of an investigation into a graft case implicating the suspended West Lombok Regent, Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ).
Based on observations at the scene, dozens of KPK investigators arrived at around 09:40 WITA. They were escorted by eight personnel from the NTB Regional Police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) as they entered the Regent’s Office complex.
Investigators then searched the West Lombok Regent’s work room and the work room of the Head of the Procurement of Goods and Services (PBJ) Section, which had previously been sealed off.
“They arrived at around 09:40 WITA earlier,” said an employee at the location.
During the search, officers restricted access to both rooms. A number of employees not involved in the matter were asked not to enter the search area.
Despite this, activities at the West Lombok Regent’s Office continued as normal. Civil servants (ASN) carried on with their office duties. Meanwhile, employees around the PBJ Section were still seen entering and leaving rooms that were not part of the search area.
As of the writing of this report, the search process was still ongoing. The KPK has yet to provide an official statement regarding the evidence or documents seized.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) against LAZ at his official residence on Monday (20/7/2026). During the operation, investigators detained 19 individuals.
Following intensive questioning, the KPK named three suspects: LAZ, the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (PT AMGM) Sudirman, and the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (PT MSI) Alvonsus Gani.
The KPK suspects LAZ of receiving bribes related to several projects in West Lombok, as well as engaging in conflicts of interest in the procurement of goods and services (PBJ).
According to the case construction, LAZ allegedly instructed the Head of the West Lombok Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP), Lalu Ratnawi, to assist Sudirman in securing government projects. Sudirman then allegedly used CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi (DKK) as a ‘bucket’ company by borrowing the names of other firms to prevent CV DKK from being recorded as the winner.
The KPK suspects that tender requirements were rigged to ensure that companies used by Sudirman won projects worth IDR 17.9 billion through both tenders and direct appointments.
Through the tender process, these projects included the 2025 rehabilitation of Taman Kota Gerung worth IDR 2.3 billion and the second phase of rehabilitation in 2026 worth IDR 4.3 billion. These two projects have made Taman Kota Giri Menang part of the KPK’s case construction.
