KPK Searches Three Suspects' Homes, Seizes Documents Linked to Sukoharjo Regent Extortion Case
The KPK has again raided the homes of three suspects in the extortion case at the Sukoharjo Regency Administration (Pemkab Sukoharjo). The raids included the home of Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani.
“Today, investigators continued a series of search activities at the suspects’ homes, as well as the home of the Head of the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Thursday (16/7/2026).
Budi said investigators secured a number of documents during the raid. He said the documents relate to the extortion case that has ensnared Regent Etik.
“In this search, investigators secured several relevant documents needed to complete additional evidence in the legal process of the alleged extortion case involving the Regent and others,” he said.
Previously, the KPK named Etik Suryani as a suspect in the extortion case at Pemkab Sukoharjo. The KPK also named two of Etik’s subordinates as suspects.
“The KPK has elevated the alleged corruption case related to extortion at Pemkab Sukoharjo to the investigation stage, and has named three people as suspects,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at a press conference on Saturday (11/7).
The three people named as suspects by the KPK are:
Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani
Head of the Regional Finance and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Pemkab Sukoharjo, Richard Tri Handoko
Head of the General Affairs Division of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretariat, Tri Mulyo.
Asep suspects that Etik Suryani received payments within the Sukoharjo BPKAD. Asep said Etik asked Richard to collect around 40% of the incentives received by a number of BPKAD employees.
“This request by ETS is suspected to continue the ‘tradition’ of the previous Regent, who is also ETS’s husband, with the command codes ‘tambahan upah pungut kae ono tho?’ (is there an additional collected payment?); ‘kowe mrene kan ora bayar’ (you come here without paying); ‘padakno karo Bapak’ (match it with Bapak). The meaning is that the amount of money deposited was adjusted to the deposits made during the term of the previous Regent,” Asep revealed.
The KPK investigation team this week is known to have raided a number of locations in Sukoharjo related to the case ensnaring Regent Etik. One of the locations raided was Regent Etik’s office and a number of agency offices at Pemkab Sukoharjo.
“In the course of these search activities, investigators secured a number of electronic items, documents, cash and also jewellery,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7).
KPK investigators also raided Regent Etik’s home today. The residence is known to have served as Etik’s safe house for storing 2.5 kg of gold allegedly derived from corruption proceeds.
