The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the residence of the former Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta on Friday, 5 June 2026. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the commission is confident that the search will yield additional evidence regarding the alleged extortion case within the Directorate General of Immigration involving Silmy Karim.
“The KPK believes that this search will provide the additional evidence required by investigators to help bring clarity to this case,” said Budi, as reported by ANTARA on Friday, 5 June 2026. KPK investigators arrived at Silmy Karim’s residence at approximately 13:46 WIB. Wearing the characteristic KPK vests, investigators entered the house through the garage to conduct the search, with some seen carrying suitcases.
“Following the designation of eight suspects in this investigation yesterday, the team proceeded directly to search the home of one of the suspects, SK,” he added.
Previously, on 2–3 June 2020, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) related to alleged corruption in the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals, such as Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) and Limited Stay Permits (KITAS).
