Kudus (ANTARA) — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the Kudus Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC), a Type Madya office in Central Java, on Wednesday.

According to observations at the scene, a group of KPK officers arrived at the Kudus Customs Office at around 10 am local time in five cars. The group was estimated to number dozens of officers.

Several officers wearing vests bearing the KPK name on the back were seen entering a number of rooms on the premises, including the office of the head of the Type Madya KPPBC Kudus.

Other officers were seen leaving the head’s office and heading towards the service building next door.

Services and staff work continued during the operation. A number of employees remained on duty, including attending the congregational midday prayer.

Several members of the public and businesspeople were also seen at the office handling the collection of cigarette excise stamps.

Meanwhile, a number of Kudus Police officers stood guard outside the Customs Office. Police personnel and official vehicles belonging to the Kudus Police’s Samapta unit were seen in the office courtyard.

As this report was filed, neither the KPK nor the Kudus Customs Office had issued an official statement on the purpose or outcome of the search.
