The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched seven locations between 30 July and 1 August 2026 as part of an investigation into an alleged extortion case involving the non-active Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro. “From 30 July to 1 August 2026, investigators conducted a series of searches at several locations to complete additional evidence required in the investigation of the alleged extortion case in Pemalang Regency, Central Java,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Monday. Budi stated that the seven locations consisted of an apartment unit in Jakarta, the Office of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency of Pemalang, the Pemalang Regent’s Office, two houses in Pemalang, one house in Kendal, and one house in Purworejo. From the searches, the KPK seized four motorcycles, one car, cash in rupiah and foreign currencies, several savings account books, proof of ownership for vehicles and land and buildings, a number of related documents, electronic evidence, as well as gold and precious metals. “Investigators will subsequently analyse all the seized items to support the handling of the case in question,” he said. Previously, the KPK conducted its 18th sting operation of 2026 on 28 July. One of the 21 individuals arrested in the operation was Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro. On 30 July 2026, the KPK announced the results of the sting operation and stated that there were two clusters of cases. The first involves the alleged extortion by Anom Widiyantoro against officials of the Pemalang Regency Government and private parties. The suspects in this cluster are Anom Widiyantoro and his confidant, Mohamad Haris, also known as Gus Haris. The second cluster involves the alleged extortion by a police officer and his father against Anom Widiyantoro. The suspects in this cluster are Setya Budi Dias, a police officer on duty at the KPK, and his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto.
