KPK Searches Semarang Customs Office and Central Java Regional Office, Seizes Cash
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched premises in a case involving excise stamps at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Finance Ministry. It has now searched the Semarang Customs Office and the Central Java Regional Customs Office.
“Today, investigators continued their searches in the Semarang area. The two locations searched were the Semarang Customs Office and the Central Java Regional Customs Office,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Friday (30 October 2026).
Investigators seized documents and electronic devices, as well as cash.
“Investigators also seized a sum of cash. The amount is still being counted,” Budi said.
The KPK is understood to have issued a new investigation warrant as it expands its case concerning the Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise. In connection with the new warrant, the KPK has searched PT Djarum’s office in Kudus, Central Java, as well as the Kudus Type C Excise Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMC Kudus).
The KPK said the expanded case involving PT Djarum had caused losses to state revenue from excise. It said the losses could reach trillions of rupiah. Budi has not disclosed when the alleged handling of PT Djarum’s excise stamps took place or the suspected method of corruption. Before the latest searches, the KPK had been searching locations in Kudus, as part of its investigation into the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
The new investigation focuses on alleged irregularities in the process involving cigarette excise stamps. Investigators suspect that the case has caused state losses of up to trillions of rupiah.
“This concerns alleged corruption involving state revenue. That means it relates to losses to state finances under Article 2, Article 3, or Articles 603 and 604 of the Criminal Code, in connection with excise,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (29 October).
“The preliminary estimate of state losses is in the trillions,” he added.

PT Djarum has responded after its office was searched by the KPK, saying it respects the legal process.
“We respect the legal process,” PT Djarum Corporate Communications Manager Budi Darmawan said when contacted on Friday (30 October).
