Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Djarum Corporate Communications Manager Budi Darmawan has responded to the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) search of the company’s office in Kudus, Central Java, on Wednesday (28 October 2026). The KPK also searched the Kudus Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC).

Budi told CNBC Indonesia that he did not know the details of the case. He nevertheless stressed that PT Djarum would co-operate.

“We respect and comply with the law,” Budi said.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the commission had expanded its investigation into a customs and excise case by issuing a new investigation warrant in October 2026. As part of the expanded probe, investigators searched the Kudus Customs and Excise office.

“The team also searched PT Djarum’s office. The search is still under way,” Budi said, as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

The KPK had previously investigated alleged corruption within the Customs and Excise Directorate General after conducting a sting operation in February. It subsequently named seven suspects in an alleged bribery case involving the importation of goods and the acceptance of gratuities.

They are Rizal, the former Director of Investigation and Enforcement at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, who served from 2024 to January 2026; Sisprian Subiaksono, head of the directorate’s Intelligence, Enforcement and Investigation Subdirectorate; and Orlando, head of intelligence at the directorate.

The other suspects are Andri, import documentation team leader at PT Blueray; Customs and Excise Directorate General employee Budiman Bayu Prasojo; PT Blueray owner John Field; and PT Blueray Operations Manager Dedy Kurniawan.

Several suspects have been brought to court and sentenced, while proceedings against others are ongoing. More recently, the KPK issued two new investigation warrants in connection with alleged corruption at the Customs and Excise Directorate General. One names Gatot Heroe Hernanda, head of the Kediri Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office, as a suspect; no suspect has yet been named under the other warrant.
