KPK searches private residence of West Lombok Regent
A team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continued a search at the private residence of West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in BTN Belencong, Midang Village, Gunungsari District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday evening. A resident who declined to be named confirmed that the house, numbered M.18 on Jalan Mutiara, is the regent’s residence. “Yes, that’s right, this is Mr Zaini’s house. But it’s an empty house, no one lives there,” the resident said. The KPK team arrived at the location around 8.20 p.m. Central Indonesia Time. Four minibuses carrying the investigators were seen parked in front of the house during the search. Upon leaving the property, the KPK team was observed carrying several suitcases into their vehicles. The KPK has yet to issue an official statement regarding the activity. Previously, on Monday, the KPK conducted a sting operation against 19 individuals, seven of whom were taken to Jakarta for questioning. The KPK also detained the Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrumen, Alvonsus Gani, in Jakarta. On Tuesday, the KPK named Lalu Ahmad Zaini, Sudirman, and Alvonsus Gani as suspects in a case involving alleged conflicts of interest, bribery, and gratuities.
