Sahali, the lawyer for West Java PDIP politician and Deputy Chairman of the West Java DPRD Ono Surono, stated that his client respects the ongoing legal process at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the alleged corruption case involving Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang. However, his team identified several irregularities in the search of his client’s home.

“We respect the existing legal process and the one currently underway at the KPK. Regarding this search, we noted an irregularity because the investigators asked for the CCTV at Kang Ono’s house to be turned off during the search process. This makes us wonder why it was necessary to turn off the CCTV? What is the legal basis for it?” he said in an official statement received on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

In addition, he highlighted that the investigators did not bring a search warrant from the chief of the district court. This refers to Article 114 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Sahali stated that the KPK search of his client’s home was to find evidence.

“However, since our client is not involved, no evidence was found,” he revealed.

He mentioned that the KPK investigators seized a laptop and family money in the form of arisan savings confiscated from Ono Surono’s wife. He emphasised respect for the legal process and urged all parties to respect the presumption of innocence principle.

“Both items, in our view, have no connection to the case. Regarding this seizure, we have already lodged objections, which have been recorded in the examination minutes,” he said.

He added that his client was attending an organisational consolidation in Tasikmalaya and Garut during the search.

Previously, the KPK searched the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono at Jalan Jati Indah V, Gumuruh Village, Batununggal Subdistrict, Bandung City, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The search was related to the alleged corruption case of Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang.

The atmosphere at Ono’s residence appeared quiet, with no sign of the homeowner on Wednesday night (1/4/2026). Only a white hardtop jeep and a Vario motorcycle were parked there.

Agus, Chairman of RT 10 RW 11 in Gumuruh Village, confirmed that a KPK search had taken place at the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono. He said he accompanied the search process.

“It’s true, Ono’s house,” he said on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
