KPK Searches Multiple Locations in Bengkulu, Seizes Documents and Electronic Devices

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted a series of searches over the past week in Bengkulu. The searches are related to the development of an investigation into a corruption case implicating the inactive Regent of Rejang Lebong, M Fikri Thobari. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that from Wednesday to Friday, investigators carried out searches at three locations: two in Bengkulu and one in Rejang Lebong. The locations in Bengkulu included the private residence of the Secretary of the Bengkulu City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and the home of the Head of the Bengkulu Province Food Security Agency. The location in Rejang Lebong was a private property. From these searches, investigators seized documents and electronic items believed to be related to the case. The investigation stems from allegations that Regent Fikri received a total of IDR 1.7 billion in bribes from several projects. The case began when the Rejang Lebong Regency administration was preparing to undertake a number of projects in early 2026. A KPK deputy explained that the projects were under the Rejang Lebong Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, which had a total budget of IDR 91.13 billion. The alleged bribe, amounting to IDR 980 million, was reportedly given in stages through an intermediary, with additional suspected receipts totalling IDR 775 million.
