The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched the office of the Klaten Regency Environmental Agency (DLH) in Central Java. The search is linked to an investigation into alleged bribery involving suspended Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo.

“There is indeed a further search operation at the Klaten Environmental Agency,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday (29 October 2026).

Budi did not specify which rooms at the agency’s office were searched, nor did he disclose what investigators had found. “The operation is still under way,” he said.

Previously, on Friday (23 October), the KPK searched the office of the Klaten Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR), also in connection with the alleged bribery case involving Hamenang. Investigators seized a quantity of cash during that search.

“We seized some cash during the search at the PUPR Agency. It is still being counted, so we cannot yet disclose the amount,” Budi told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (28 October).

Budi said the search concerned the alleged bribery of Regent Hamenang by private-sector parties. Investigators also seized documents believed to be related to projects in Klaten.

“One of the areas requiring further investigation is the projects carried out in Klaten, as there is an allegation that private parties made payments to the regent,” Budi said.

“Investigators found and secured several documents related to procurement of goods and services, as well as electronic evidence,” he added.

The KPK has named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving changes to audit findings. The commission said Hamenang asked the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) to remove findings from an audit report concerning excess honorarium payments.

Three people have been named as suspects: Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo (HWI), Klaten regent for the 2025–2030 term; Ahmad Luthfi H Rahmatullah (ALU), head of the BPK’s Central Java office; and Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo (MAW), a private-sector figure from PT Madani Winasis Creative.
