KPK Searches Homes of Three Suspects in Sukoharjo Extortion Case, Seizes Key Documents

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has continued its investigation into an alleged extortion case within the Sukoharjo Regency Government, Central Java, by searching the homes of the suspects, including the inactive Regent Etik Suryani. The searches were carried out on Thursday, 16 July 2026, as part of efforts to gather additional evidence in the case involving several officials within the Sukoharjo Regency administration. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the searches did not only target the suspects’ residences but also the home of the Head of the Sukoharjo Public Works Department. ‘Today, investigators continued a series of search activities at the homes of the suspects, as well as the home of the Head of the Sukoharjo Public Works Department,’ Budi said on Thursday. The homes searched belonged to three individuals named as suspects by the KPK: inactive Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) Richard Tri Handoko, and Head of General Affairs at the Regional Secretariat Tri Mulyo. The KPK stated that this step was taken to complete the investigation requirements and trace evidence related to the alleged extortion. From the searches, investigators secured several documents suspected to be connected to the case. These documents will be studied further as part of the evidentiary process against the suspects. ‘Investigators secured several related documents needed to complete additional evidence in the legal process of the alleged extortion case by the Regent and others,’ Budi said. He confirmed that all obtained evidence was immediately secured for further investigation. Thursday’s searches were a continuation of a series of searches conducted by the KPK over the previous two days. On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, investigators first searched several government offices and official residences, including the official residence of the Sukoharjo Regent, the Regent’s Office, the Public Works Department Office, the Transportation Department Office, the Agriculture Department Office, and the Health Department Office.
