The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched a bureau providing immigration document services for foreign nationals in Bali, linked to an investigation into alleged corruption in the processing of residence permits. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday that the search targeted an office frequently offering immigration document services in the Bali region. ‘Regarding the immigration case, today investigators continued search activities in the Bali area. A service bureau office that often provides immigration document processing services for the Bali region was searched,’ he said. Investigators seized a number of documents and electronic evidence during the search. Budi noted that all secured evidence will be extracted and analysed to strengthen the existing body of evidence. He added that the KPK will summon several witnesses to confirm various findings from the search. Previously, on 2-3 June 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) related to alleged corruption in the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals. This operation was the 11th OTT carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. During the operation, the KPK arrested 17 individuals, comprising eight state officials or civil servants (ASN) and nine private parties suspected of acting as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents. On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight individuals as suspects in an alleged extortion case involving the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals during the 2022-2026 period within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The eight suspects include several current and former officials of the Directorate General of Immigration, namely Silmy Karim, Saffar Muhammad Godam, Jaya Saputra, Ronald Arman Abdullah, Tessar Bayu Setyaji, Bagus Bramantyo, Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Gusti Benardiansyah.
