KPK Searches for Deputy Minister of Immigration Silmy Karim Following Sting Operation on West Jakarta Immigration Officials

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is searching for the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, in connection with a sting operation (OTT) conducted at the West Jakarta Immigration Office today. “The team is still conducting the search. It is true that this is part of the series of sting operations in West Jakarta,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasimosimojo to journalists on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Budi requested that all parties remain cooperative, though he has not yet explained Silmy’s specific connection to the operation. Previously, the KPK conducted the sting operation against officials at the West Jakarta Immigration Office (Kanim Jakbar) regarding alleged corruption. “That is correct,” confirmed KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when asked for comment on Wednesday.

Separately, the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, stated that he is aware of the sting operation and respects the ongoing legal process. “We respect the legal process currently underway; our direction is clear,” said Agus.

The operation spanned West Jakarta, West Java, and Bali, resulting in the detention of approximately a dozen people, including the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office. The KPK also seized evidence including cars, motorcycles, foreign currency, and gold. The sting operation is allegedly related to suspected bribery concerning the residency permit process for foreign nationals in Indonesia. The KPK is expected to provide further details regarding the case construction during a future press conference.
