KPK Searches Denpasar Immigration Office in Bali
Denpasar (ANTARA) - Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the Class I Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) Office in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the search, which had been underway since midday. “It is true, today investigators conducted a search at the Denpasar Immigration Office,” he said. According to Budi, the search is a follow-up to the investigation into an alleged extortion case against foreign nationals (WNA) in the processing of immigration documents, specifically Limited Stay Permit Cards (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permit Cards (KITAP). “The search was carried out in the continuation of the investigation into the alleged criminal act of extortion related to the processing of immigration documents for foreign nationals,” he stated. When asked about evidence or parties being examined by investigators, Budi said the search process was still ongoing. “The search activity is still in progress. We will provide further updates,” he said. Previously, on 2–3 June 2026, KPK investigators conducted a sting operation (OTT) against several parties linked to alleged corruption in the processing of stay permits for foreign nationals. In that operation, the KPK arrested 17 people, consisting of eight state officials or civil servants (ASN) and nine private sector individuals suspected of acting as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents. On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight individuals as suspects in the extortion case related to the processing of foreign nationals’ stay permits during the 2022–2026 period within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The suspects are alleged to have profited Rp145.5 billion from the practice. The eight suspects include Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim, who previously served as Director General of Immigration for the 2023–2024 period; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024–2025 period Saffar Muhammad Godam; Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra, who once served as Director of Stay Permits and Immigration Status for the 2024–2025 period; and Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office Ronald Arman Abdullah. The other suspects are Head of Subdirectorate at the Directorate of Stay Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Chair of the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) Status Transfer Team Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Staff of the Stay Permit Subdirectorate Gusti Benardiansyah.
