KPK Searches Central Jakarta Immigration Office in Graft Probe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed it also searched the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Central Jakarta, meaning that on Tuesday the locations raided were not limited to the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in South Jakarta. “So, there are two places searched today,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday. Taufik stated that KPK investigators had finished searching the two locations in connection with the investigation into an alleged extortion case involving the processing of stay permits for foreign nationals, which has implicated Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections for the 2024-2026 period, Silmy Karim. Nevertheless, he maintained that the results of the search could not be disclosed by him. “Later, the details will be with the KPK Spokesperson,” he said. On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight suspects in the alleged extortion case related to the processing of foreign nationals’ stay permits during the 2022–2026 period within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned into the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. Besides Silmy Karim, who served as Director General of Immigration for the 2023–2024 period, the other suspects include Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024–2025 period Saffar Muhammad Godam. The KPK also named Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra, Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta Ronald Arman Abdullah, Sub-Directorate Heads of the Directorate of Stay Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Chair of the Limited Stay Permit Status Transfer Team Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Staff of the Sub-Directorate of Stay Permits Gusti Benardiansyah as suspects. The suspects are alleged to have obtained profits amounting to Rp145.5 billion from the practice throughout 2022-2026.
