KPK Searches Bogor Regency Education Office
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has continued its search activities in Bogor Regency, West Java. On this occasion, investigators targeted the Education Office.
“In the continuation of the investigation into alleged corruption in the Bogor Regency area, today investigators again carried out search activities. This time, investigators searched the Bogor Regency Education Office,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Friday (28/8) afternoon.
During the search, Budi explained, investigators seized several documents related to procurement activities at the Bogor Regency Education Office.
“Furthermore, investigators will examine, analyse, and confirm each finding from the search with other evidence to help clarify the case,” said Budi.
Previously, on Thursday (27/8), the KPK first searched the offices of the Regional Revenue Management Agency (Bappenda) and the Regional Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Bogor Regency.
These enforcement measures are related to the investigation into alleged corruption involving deductions from tax and regional levy collection incentives.
Investigators also seized documents related to the alleged corruption case under investigation.
In addition to the tax levy case, the KPK is also investigating alleged corruption in the goods and services procurement sector.
Some time ago, the KPK issued a general Investigation Order (Sprindik) for the case in Bogor Regency. This means that suspects will be identified and named as the investigation progresses.
“The KPK has not yet named any suspects because it is still using a general Investigation Order. Therefore, we cannot yet disclose the identities or other parties in detail, including the construction of the case,” said Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday (22/8).
Taufik asked the public not to speculate or conclude that certain parties have committed criminal acts before the legal process is complete and the KPK officially releases information.
“In due course, the KPK will also convey the development of this case transparently to the public in accordance with the provisions and needs of the investigation if it must be conveyed to the media,” he said.
Based on information from a CNNIndonesia.com source within the KPK, the activities carried out in the Bogor Regency area on Thursday (20/8) were part of a sting operation (OTT).
However, this was denied by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, who stated that “there was an activity of requesting information following up on public reports”.
Several agency heads were reportedly caught in the silent operation, and some of them underwent questioning at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building.
The KPK also found and secured approximately Rp1.5 billion in cash during the operation in Bogor Regency.
The operation allegedly targeted Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto, who is also a Gerindra Party elite.
