The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has once again conducted searches related to the extortion case implicating Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW). The searches were carried out at four locations, including the regent’s personal home in Surabaya.

“Today, investigators conducted a series of search activities at four locations. The first was at the Office of the Regional Secretary, including the procurement of goods and services room and the regent’s room. Then at the Public Works Department office,” explained KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Friday (17 April 2026).

“The third was at the Financial and Asset Management Agency office, and the fourth at the regent’s and family’s personal home in Surabaya,” he continued.

Budi explained that today’s searches are part of the ongoing series of raids conducted by investigators since the first day the regent was caught in a raid. He stated that a total of seven locations have now been searched by investigators.

“We will see how it develops, whether there will be further search activities; we will wait. We will update periodically to colleagues,” he concluded.

In these searches, KPK investigators seized a number of documents. Additionally, Rp 95 million in cash was also seized.

“In these searches, investigators secured several documents related to procurement and budgeting in Tulungagung Regency. In addition, investigators also secured cash amounting to around Rp 95 million,” Budi revealed.

Budi said that the documentary and electronic evidence will first be extracted and analysed by investigators. He also mentioned that marathon searches have been conducted this week in connection with Gatut’s extortion case.

“This week, field teams have been conducting search activities in a marathon manner,” he said.

Previously, the KPK had also carried out a series of searches related to the extortion case of Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW). The KPK searched the regent’s official and personal residences, as well as his aide’s home.

“Today, investigators began a series of search activities in the Tulungagung area. The first day’s searches were conducted at three locations: the regent’s official residence, the personal home of Mr GSW (Gatut Sunu Wibowo), and the home of Mr YOG (Dwi Yoga Ambal),” said Budi on Thursday (16 April).

The KPK found resignation letters to regional device organisations (OPD) without dates. These letters were used by Gatut Sunu to pressure the OPDs.

“In those searches, among other things, several documents were found, one of which was a statement of resignation from other OPD heads made without a date,” he said.

“This statement of resignation is suspected to have been used as a ‘pressure tool’ by the regent against the OPDs to ensure compliance with all his orders,” he added.

The searches were conducted to gather additional evidence in the case implicating Gatut Sunu. The KPK expressed thanks to the people of Tulungagung for supporting the investigation of this case.

“We will continue to update on the developments and results of the searches,” he stated.
