The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has sealed the house of the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, located in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. This sealing follows Silmy’s status as a suspect following a sting operation (OTT) at the West Jakarta Immigration Office.

The sealing was carried out on Wednesday night as part of a series of closed investigation activities. “The KPK is installing ‘KPK lines’ or sealing various points at the location to facilitate the need for searches during the investigation stage,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday.

The KPK stated that the sealing was performed for the purpose of future searches. However, Budi did not specify which rooms within Silmy’s house were sealed, noting that updates regarding the specific details would be provided later.

Previously, the KPK revealed the details of the case involving Silmy Karim, explaining that the alleged offences occurred during his tenure as the Director General of Immigration. The KPK uncovered violations occurring while Silmy held the top position at the Directorate General of Immigration. The commission confirmed that the case is related to the processing of immigration documents, with suspicions of extortion and gratification.

Records show that eight individuals have been immediately detained by the KPK, including Silmy Karim; the Acting Director General of Immigration 2024-2025, Saffar Muhammad Godam (SMG); the Director of Stay Permits and Immigration Status, Jaya Saputra (JS); the Head of the Sub-directorate for Change of Stay Permit Status, Tessar Bayu Setyaji (TBS); the Head of the Sub-directorate for Stay Permits, Bagus Bramantyo (BGS); the Head of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office 2024-2025 and Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Jakarta West Immigration Office 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah (RAA); the Head of the ITAS Status Change Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi (JSP); and a Stay Permit Sub-directorate staff member, Gusti Benardians<0xC2>iansyah (GST).

They have been officially named suspects and will be detained for the initial 20-day period at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building detention centre. The designation of suspects is based on the sufficiency of evidence gathered by investigators.
