KPK Seals Several Rooms at Tulungagung Public Works Department

Tulungagung, East Java (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sealed several work rooms in the building of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) of Tulungagung Regency, East Java, following a sting operation (OTT) against Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo on Friday (10/4) night.

A 37-second video recording the atmosphere of the sealed PUPR department rooms, which were locked and affixed with red seals stating “under KPK supervision”, circulated via a post by @Tulungagung Eksis, spotted on Instagram social media on Saturday.

“Yes, some inside have been sealed,” said one of the guards at the Tulungagung PUPR department building.

In the short video that subsequently went viral, there were four rooms affixed with KPK seals.

The four rooms were the Water Resources Division room, the Road Infrastructure Division room, the Road Infrastructure Administrative Staff room, and the PUPR department head’s room.

The red seals also bore black marker writing stating “prohibited from damaging this seal without permission from KPK investigators”.

Access to the official residence is currently tightly closed, starting from the gate with local Satpol PP guards.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the KPK team had brought Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo to Jakarta for further examination.

“The regent arrived at the KPK Merah Putih building around 06.50 WIB, and intensive examination was immediately conducted,” said Budi Prasetyo in a statement via WhatsApp message.

“In this series of closed investigation activities in the East Java region, out of a total of eighteen people examined and secured on Friday (10/4), thirteen of them were subsequently brought to Jakarta today in stages,” Budi confirmed the developments on Saturday afternoon, around 14.00 WIB.

In the first stage, Regent Gatut Sunu arrived in the morning around 06.50 WIB. “Then in the afternoon, the second stage the team brought eleven people, and the third stage brought one person,” he explained.

The thirteen people brought to Jakarta were the Tulungagung Regent, eleven people from the Tulungagung Regency Government environment, and one other party.

These parties will then undergo further examination at the KPK Merah Putih Building.

In addition to securing the parties, in this activity the team also secured evidence items, including in the form of cash.
