KPK Seals Office of Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sealed a number of rooms in the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent’s Office, Riau, on Tuesday (30/6), amid reports of an operation being conducted by KPK investigators in Kuansing since the previous day. The entrance to the office of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby was seen affixed with red seal tape. In addition to the regent’s office, sealing was also carried out on the offices of Kuansing Deputy Regent Mukhlisin, Regional Secretary Zulkarnain, and Assistant I of the Kuansing Regional Secretariat Fahdiasyah. As of the time of writing, there has been no official statement regarding the party that carried out the sealing or its connection to the operation taking place in the area. Previously, activity suspected to involve the KPK team was observed in Teluk Kuantan since Monday (29/6). At that time, the area was hosting the Riau Province-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) and the Pacu Jalur Rayon II Festival. One location that drew attention was the official residence of Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain. Several Brimob patrol vehicles were seen arriving at the location and escorting officers who entered the residence area. After the officers entered, the gate of the official residence was closed by on-duty Satpol PP personnel. Additionally, information circulated that Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby was at the Kuansing Police Headquarters. However, this information could not be officially confirmed. When journalists arrived at the Kuansing Police Headquarters, access to certain areas was guarded by police officers. An officer on site asked journalists to coordinate with the Kuansing Police Public Relations section for further information. On Monday evening, several vehicles were seen moving from the Regional Secretary’s official residence area towards Pekanbaru. Meanwhile, vehicle activity was also observed at the Riau Regional Police Headquarters until late at night. To date, there has been no official statement from the police or the KPK regarding the series of activities in Kuansing.
