KPK Seals House of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has sealed the house of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamen Imipas) Silmy Karim. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the action, while denying that a search had been conducted on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. Budi explained that the sealing was carried out for the purposes of further case handling, including if a search is required. “As part of a series of closed investigation activities, the KPK installed KPK-line seals at several locations for future search needs during the prosecution stage,” Budi told reporters on Thursday, 4 June 2026. However, Budi did not yet disclose in detail which rooms in the house were sealed by the KPK. “We will update the details of the rooms sealed later because it was just done last night. This is part of a series of hand-catch operations conducted at several points, not only in Jakarta and its surroundings but also in two other areas, in Bandung and Bali,” he said. It was previously reported that Deputy Minister Silmy Karim had officially become a detainee of the KPK. Silmy Karim was seen leaving the KPK’s Red and White Building wearing an orange KPK detainee vest. Silmy was detained as a suspect in an extortion case involving immigration document processing. Besides Silmy Karim, the KPK also named seven other individuals as suspects in the case. The naming of suspects was a follow-up to the hand-catch operation conducted by the KPK on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. “The KPK has named eight people as suspects, out of a total of 18 people detained,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday, 4 June 2026. Budi explained that the eight suspects were immediately detained for the first 20 days. “The eight suspects were immediately detained for the first 20-day period,” he said.
