The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will schedule an examination of West Java Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) Deputy Chairman Ono Surono as a witness in the alleged bribery and gratification case implicating Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara.

The planned examination arises after the KPK searched Ono’s residences in Bandung and Indramayu, securing several pieces of evidence related to the case.

“For the search in Indramayu, we also update that during the search, investigators secured several documents and Electronic Evidence Items (BBE),” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s office in Jakarta on Monday (6/4).

“Certainly, those document notes are needed by investigators to be further explored and confirmed during examinations with the relevant parties, including the possibility of scheduling an examination for Mr ONS [Ono Surono],” he added.

Budi explained that Ono will be questioned regarding the evidence found by investigators at his two residences.

The evidence in question consists of documents, BBE, and cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah.

Meanwhile, Ono’s lawyer, Sahali, protested the coercive measures taken by the KPK. According to him, the search was conducted without permission from the local district court chief.

“Investigators also seized items unrelated [to the case], namely a 2010 notebook, the 2015 PDI Perjuangan Congress Book, and one damaged Samsung mobile phone,” said Sahali in a written statement responding to the search in Indramayu on Friday (3/4).

According to him, the seizure violates Article 113 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), which states that in conducting a search, investigators may only examine and/or seize evidence related to the criminal offence.

“We also regret the unprofessional attitude of the KPK investigators, framing it as if they seized a lot of items by bringing suitcases when they only took two personal agenda books, a party book, and one damaged Samsung phone from the house in Indramayu,” he said.

In the ongoing process, the KPK suspects Ono of receiving money from a businessman named Sarjan, who is currently on trial at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Bandung District Court (PN).

Besides Sarjan, the KPK is also prosecuting Regent Ade Kuswara, a PDIP cadre, and the Head of Sukadami Village, South Cikarang Subdistrict, H.M Kunang, who is also the father of Regent Ade Kuswara.

Ade Kuswara and H.M Kunang, as bribe recipients, are charged with violating Article 12a or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1(1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP), as well as Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 UU Tipikor in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1)(1) KUHP.

Meanwhile, Sarjan, as the bribe giver, is charged with Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 UU Tipikor. Sarjan’s case file has been submitted to the court.

Sarjan is accused of bribing Regent Ade Kuswara with Rp11.4 billion to obtain work packages for the 2025 Fiscal Year (TA).

Sarjan is the Director of PT Zaki Karya Membangun and owner of CV Mancur Berdikari, CV Barok Kostruksi, CV Lor Jaya, CV Singkil Berkah Anugerah, and PT Tirta Jaya Mandiri. The alleged bribe money was given through intermediaries: H.M Kunang with Rp1 billion.

Then witness Sugiarto with Rp3.3 billion, Ricky Yuda Bahtiar alias Nyai with Rp5.1 billion, and Rahmat bin Sawin alias Acep with Rp2 billion.

In addition to Ade Kuswara, prosecutors state that Sarjan is also suspected of giving money to other parties.

Among them, the Head of the Water Resources, Public Works, and Construction Agency of Bekasi Regency, Henri Lincoln, with Rp2.94 billion.

Then the Head of the Spatial Planning and Building Agency of Bekasi Regency, Benny Sugiarto Prawiro, with Rp500 million.

Followed by the Head of the People’s Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Agency of Bekasi Regency, Nurchaidir, with Rp300 million; and the Head of the Education Agency of Bekasi Regency, Imam Faturochman, with Rp280 million.

For his actions, Sarjan is charged with violating Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a or Article 5 paragraph 1 letter b or Article 13 of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 618 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).
