KPK Schedules Examination of Maktour Owner for Next Week

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled the examination of Fuad Hasan Masyhur (FHM), the owner of hajj organiser PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour), for next week, approximately 15-19 June 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in hajj quotas. “Investigators have rescheduled his examination for next week. We will update you on the exact date later,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Friday (12/6/2026). Budi stated that the KPK believes Fuad Hasan will comply with the rescheduled summons. “The witness has also indicated he will be cooperative and support the investigation process of this case,” he said. The KPK previously revealed the role of Fuad Hasan Masyhur as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Hajj and Umrah Travel Association Forum (SATHU). The KPK stated that Fuad requested an increase in special hajj quotas exceeding the 8% provision from former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YQC). This was disclosed when the KPK announced the detention of Ismail Adham (ISM), Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour), and Asrul Azis Taba (ASR), Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama and Chairman of the Kesthuri Association, in the Religious Affairs Ministry hajj quota case. “Suspects ISM and ASR, together with FHM as Chairman of the Sathu Forum Advisory Board and other parties, held meetings with YCQ and IAA with the intention of requesting additional special hajj quotas exceeding the 8% provision as stipulated in laws and regulations. The process resulted in the distribution of regular and special hajj quotas under a 50%-50% scheme,” said Acting KPK Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein on Monday (8/6/2026). In the continued handling of this case, KPK investigators uncovered the active roles of the suspects in arranging the allocation of additional special hajj quotas that did not comply with legal provisions, as well as the provision of sums of money to state officials. “Both suspects ISM and ASR, together with parties from the Religious Affairs Ministry, arranged the allocation of additional special hajj quotas for companies affiliated with PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour) and the NRA Group or Kesthuri Association, thereby obtaining additional special hajj quotas, including quotas under the accelerated departure scheme (T0/without queue),” Taufik stated.
