KPK Schedules Examination of Khalid Basalamah Today
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of Khalid Zeed Abdullah Basalamah, owner of PT Zahra Oto Mandiri (Uhud Tour), for today, Thursday (23/4).
Khalid will be examined as a witness to complete the case file for four suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the 2023-2024 Hajj quota.
“In the continuation of the Hajj quota investigation, indeed, today the investigators have scheduled (the examination of) Mr KB, one of the parties from PIHK (Penyelenggara Ibadah Haji Khusus),” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when confirmed at his office in Jakarta, Thursday (23/4).
Budi explained that this examination is part of a series following previous examinations of many witnesses from PIHK parties. These consecutive examinations were conducted after the KPK named two new suspects some time ago.
“This is a series of examinations of travel bureaus or PIHK that are indeed needed by the investigators to further explore how the buying and selling or filling of Hajj pilgrimage quotas was carried out by those PIHK,” said Budi.
“We are confident that the witness will be cooperative in attending the investigators’ summons and will provide the necessary testimony,” he concluded.
Khalid was previously examined on 9 September 2025. At that time, no suspects had yet been named by the KPK.
After undergoing an examination lasting about 7.5 hours at the KPK, Khalid at that time explained that he was initially registered as a Hajj pilgrim under the furoda programme. However, in the process, he claimed to have been offered a special Hajj quota by the owner of the Hajj and Umrah travel agency PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata Pekanbaru, Ibnu Mas’ud.
“So in the end, we joined with that visa at his travel agency, Muhibbah,” Khalid told the media at the KPK office in Jakarta on Tuesday night (9/9).
“Our position is that we are victims of PT Muhibbah owned by Ibnu Mas’ud. We were all originally furoda. We were offered to switch to using this visa,” he continued.
Khalid explained that he and the Uhud Tour pilgrims ultimately performed the Hajj through the special quota offered by PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata Pekanbaru.
“The number is 122 (pilgrims),” said Khalid, who is also the Chairman of the Asosiasi Mutiara Haji.
The KPK has named four individuals as suspects in the alleged 2023-2024 Hajj quota corruption case, which is suspected to have harmed state finances by Rp622 billion.
They are former Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia Yaqut Cholil Qoumas; Yaqut’s staff member Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex; Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour) Ismail Adham; and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama as well as General Chairman of Asosiasi Kesthuri, Asrul Azis Taba.
However, only Yaqut and Ishfah have been detained by the KPK.
The KPK is applying Article 2 paragraph (1) and or Article 3 of the Law on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption (UU Tipikor) juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code or as referred to in Article 603 or Article 604 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code juncto Article 20 letter (c) of the Criminal Code Law in this case.
