KPK says Suhardiman Amby involved in job sale bribery since 2021
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent for the 2025-2030 period, Suhardiman Amby, is suspected of involvement in the sale and purchase of positions since serving as Acting Regent of Kuansing in 2021. Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein explained that the KPK suspects Suhardiman Amby was involved in the scheme together with Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain. “Zulkarnain allegedly gave a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar car worth Rp700 million to the Acting Regent at the time in connection with the filling of the position of Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office of Kuansing in 2021,” Taufik said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday. Meanwhile, during his tenure as Regent of Kuansing for the 2025-2030 period, Taufik explained that Suhardiman allegedly received a bribe in the form of a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S SUV worth Rp2.05 billion from Zulkarnain. According to him, Zulkarnain allegedly bribed with the car worth Rp2 billion in connection with the Regional Secretary position in 2025. Previously, on 30 June 2026, the KPK confirmed it had conducted a sting operation in Kuansing and Jakarta, securing 10 individuals. The operation was the 14th sting operation carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. Of the 10 individuals detained, five were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive examination. They comprised three private parties, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman Amby’s wife, Suci Nitia Edwar. Meanwhile, the KPK requested that Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrender themselves for examination. Both subsequently surrendered and were picked up by KPK officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. On 1 July 2026, the KPK announced Suhardiman, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in an alleged job sale bribery case within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, Riau.
