KPK says it's in need of new blood

JAKARTA: The National Police are completing the paperwork required for the best graduates of the Police Staff College to work on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

KPK chairman Taufiqurrahman Ruqi said on Wednesday the commission had asked the police for new blood in investigating graft cases in regions.

"We are lacking investigators due to the (large) number of cases we are handling," Ruki said after a meeting with National Police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Makbul Padmanegara.

The commission employs prosecutors and police officers as investigators.

It is now investigating a number of regional government officials, including regents and mayors, in connection with corruption cases. Ruki however refused to identify the officials. -- JP
