KPK Says It Searched BNPB Chief’s Office After Naming Suspects
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it had searched the office of the head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) after naming suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the use of BNPB’s ready-to-use funds (DSP).
“Several officials’ offices at BNPB have been searched, including the head’s office,” KPK acting director of investigations Achmad Taufik Husein said at the agency’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday.
Taufik said the KPK had also searched several deputy offices and the agency’s procurement section.
“I forget which deputy’s office. There were also several procurement offices, including the office of GPS, who is the commitment-making official,” he said.
GPS is Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, head of BNPB’s Subdirectorate for the Management of Aid and Emergency Funds and one of the suspects in the case.
He said the searches at BNPB offices were carried out on 14–15 October 2026. “We received reports from the team on the ground that the operation went fairly smoothly. Several parties, including people at BNPB, were also co-operative,” he said.
The KPK had earlier conducted a sting operation at BNPB on 13 October 2026.
The operation led to the arrest of 15 people, including BNPB Secretary-General Rustian and several private-sector individuals. Rustian, however, was not named as a suspect.
The following day, the KPK named five people as suspects in the case. One was Bima Setiawan, the younger brother and an expert adviser to former BNPB chief Lieutenant General Suharyanto.
The other four suspects are Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, a commitment-making official and head of BNPB’s Subdirectorate for the Management of Aid and Emergency Funds; BNPB chief’s expert adviser Richard Erlangga; Gery Prasetiawan, director of PT Trans Lintas Selaras; and private-sector individual Syifa Nrika Ghifarin.
