KPK Says Five-Year Prison Sentence Demand for Noel Ebenezer Is in Line with Guidelines

Jakarta – Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has spoken about the five-year prison sentence demanded against former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel Ebenezer, in the case of alleged extortion of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certification at the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker). Fitroh said the prosecutors’ demand aligns with the KPK’s guidelines. ‘There are guidelines for charging in the KPK. What the prosecutors have submitted is in line with those guidelines,’ Fitroh said on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. He also noted that the prosecutors’ demand takes into account aggravating and mitigating factors. Previously, it was reported that the former Wamenaker Immanuel Ebenezer or Noel Ebenezer faced a five-year sentence in connection with the alleged extortion of K3 certification at Kemnaker. ‘Imposing a sentence of five years’ imprisonment on the defendant Immanuel Ebenezer Geringan,’ the prosecutor said when reading the charges at the Jakarta Pusat Court for Corruption on Monday, 18 May 2026. In addition, prosecutors sought a Rp250 million fine, with a substitute 90 days’ imprisonment, and replacement money of Rp4,435,000,000. However, as Noel has already returned around Rp3 billion, the replacement amount to be paid now is Rp1.43 billion. If the replacement is not paid within one month after the court’s final and binding verdict, it will be replaced by a two-year prison sentence. ‘If the replacement is not paid, he will be imprisoned for two years,’ the prosecutor said.
