KPK Says Envelope Case for Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni Is 'Case Closed'
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the matter of an alleged envelope given by the inactive Regent of Kuantan Singingi, Suhardiman Amby, to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has been resolved from the perspective of prevention or gratification reporting. However, the investigation into the alleged bribery in the case is still ongoing.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the gratification report submitted by Raja Juli Antoni has been declared complete by the commission. Nevertheless, investigators are still looking into the possible connection between the gift and the bribery case currently under investigation.
“Yes, so on the prevention side, the gratification report made by the Forestry Minister is case closed, while on the enforcement side, the connection is still being investigated,” he said, quoted on Friday, 17 July 2026.
According to Budi, investigators are still tracing whether the envelope was related to the alleged bribery concerning the release of limited production forest areas. “Because in the case’s construction, the Regent, after collecting money from various parties, then gave this money to the Minister. So, the purpose, the intention, whose initiative it was, and what the motive was, are all being investigated by the investigators,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of summoning Raja Juli Antoni for questioning, Budi did not provide a definite answer. He emphasised that the KPK will provide updates on the case’s progress to the public. “We will continue to update because the investigation is still progressing, and several witnesses have already been summoned,” Budi stated.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Jakarta on 29 June 2026. During the operation, the anti-corruption agency secured 10 individuals. The following day, Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrendered to the KPK.
On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in a bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government for the 2021–2026 period. The KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the management of the release of limited production forest areas. The name of Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni later came under scrutiny after it was mentioned that he received an envelope from Suhardiman during a meeting on 2 June 2026.
