The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has urged the public to use the commemoration of Pancasila’s Birthday as an opportunity to strengthen commitments to anti-corruption efforts and instil integrity in state governance. The KPK emphasised that corruption practices contradict the noble values enshrined in Pancasila.

Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak stated that Pancasila’s Birthday must be a moment for reflection on the nation’s noble values, which are not only relevant for maintaining Indonesia’s unity but also for creating world peace.

“As a great nation, we must continue to demonstrate tangible leadership. Indonesia’s contribution to UN peacekeeping forces, our role in regional conflict mediation, and our consistent advocacy for justice for colonised nations embody the second principle of Just and Civilised Humanity,” Tanak said during the Pancasila Day ceremony on Monday (1/6).

According to Tanak, Indonesia desires peace based on justice for all humanity.

“We want the world to see that peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity,” he added.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo affirmed that Pancasila’s Birthday serves as a reminder that Pancasila is the moral foundation for building clean and integrity-driven governance.

“Anti-corruption efforts are a tangible manifestation of applying Pancasila’s values in national and societal life,” Budi stated.

He explained that corruption contradicts the first principle of Pancasila, Belief in the One and Only God, as divine values teach honesty, trustworthiness, and accountability.

According to Budi, corruption stems from the abuse of trust and disregard for moral values that should guide state officials.

“The KPK believes that commemorating Pancasila’s Birthday is not sufficient through ceremony alone; it must also strengthen collective commitment to embedding integrity in all aspects of life,” he said.

Further, he stressed that implementing Pancasila’s values in state governance and daily life is key to reducing corruption opportunities.

“The stronger Pancasila’s values are implemented in state administration and daily life, the smaller the space for corruption to grow and thrive,” he added.
