JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that the house arrest status of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in the alleged hajj quota corruption case is temporary.

“This transfer is indeed not permanent,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, as reported by Antara.

He stated that the KPK will provide updates on Yaqut’s detention period to the public.

It is known that the KPK transferred Yaqut’s detention status from the detention centre to house arrest since Thursday night (19/3/2026).

This detention transfer was carried out following a request from the family submitted on Tuesday (17/3/2026). The KPK also ensures that Yaqut remains under supervision.

Previously, the whereabouts of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas became a concern in the KPK detention centre environment. This arose after several detainees no longer saw Yaqut.

Former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer conveyed through his wife, Silvia Harefa, that Yaqut was no longer seen in the detention centre since Thursday night (19/3/2026).

“Just now, he wasn’t seen, Gus Yaqut. The info is he left on Thursday night,” Silvia said when met by reporters at the location on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Furthermore, Silvia was told that Yaqut was not present in the line of detainees performing Eid al-Fitr prayers at the KPK Merah Putih Mosque this morning.

The KPK detained Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a suspect in the alleged 2023-2024 hajj quota corruption case on Thursday night (12/3/2026). Yaqut was officially detained after being examined as a suspect at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta.

The KPK revealed that the state losses due to this alleged hajj quota corruption case amount to Rp 622 billion.
