KPK reveals why Forestry Minister's special staff missed summons

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the reason why Special Staff to the Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, Andi Saiful Haq, failed to comply with a summons to appear as a witness in an alleged bribery case within the Kuantan Singingi Regency administration on Friday (21/8).

“There has been a reply letter regarding the summons stating that the person concerned had another activity already scheduled on the date set by the investigation team,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK Achmad Taufik Husein at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Taufik further stated that the rescheduling of Andi’s examination has been handed over to the KPK investigation team.

Meanwhile, he said that the KPK is currently working to complete the case file.

“Because the detention period is almost over,” he said.

The KPK previously conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Jakarta on 29 June 2026.

On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby, Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain, and President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant Ardiles as suspects in an alleged bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuansing Regency administration.

In addition to the alleged bribery, the KPK is also investigating alleged gratuities related to the processing of forest area release permits.

Separately, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said that during an audience with Suhardiman on 2 June 2026, a sealed envelope was left behind after the meeting.

Raja Juli said he only became aware of the envelope’s existence after Suhardiman had left the room. He then asked his aide-de-camp to return the envelope without knowing its contents.

The envelope was returned to Suhardiman through Raja Juli’s aide on 12 June 2026.

Raja Juli subsequently reported the rejection of the gratuity to the KPK on 3 July 2026.

The KPK did not process the report through the gratuity reporting mechanism because the gift reported had become part of a case already being handled by investigators.

On 8 July 2026, the KPK seized 12,000 Singapore dollars while examining Kuansing DPRD Speaker Juprizal as a witness.

The KPK suspects that the money was part of the funds previously contained in the envelope and returned by the Ministry of Forestry to Suhardiman.
