KPK Reveals Two Clusters of Corruption Involving Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially elevated the alleged corruption case involving Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro to the investigation stage. Following a case review conducted on Wednesday evening, the anti-graft body divided the case into two main clusters. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the decision was made after investigators found sufficient preliminary evidence. ‘Last night an expose was conducted, and it was decided that this case would proceed to the investigation stage for two case clusters,’ Budi stated at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Thursday. Budi detailed that the first cluster relates to corrupt acts allegedly committed by the regent. Meanwhile, the second cluster is a rather surprising finding as it involves the internal affairs of the law enforcement institution itself. Although two clusters have been established, the KPK has not yet detailed the specific roles of the four suspects named in the case. ‘The details will be delivered at a press conference,’ Budi added. The case began with the 18th Sting Operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026. The operation took place on 29 July 2026 in three different locations: Jakarta, Pemalang, and Purworejo. During the operation, the KPK also sealed several locations suspected of being linked to the corruption. Currently, 12 out of the 21 individuals arrested are still undergoing intensive examination in Jakarta to further investigate their involvement in the extortion scheme across the two clusters.
