KPK Reveals Sting Operation in Kuansing Linked to Alleged Bribery for Regional Secretary Post

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the reason behind the sting operation (OTT) conducted in Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing), Riau Province. The anti-corruption body suspects the operation is linked to bribery in the process of buying and selling positions within the Kuansing Regency Government.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the alleged criminal act of corruption under investigation focuses on the process of filling the position of Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Kuantan Singingi Regency. “This case is suspected to be related to alleged bribery in the buying and selling of positions in Kuantan Singingi Regency,” Budi Prasetyo said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

KPK revealed that the alleged bribery targeted the filling of the Regional Secretary post in Kuantan Singingi Regency. “The bribe was allegedly for the position of Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency,” he added. However, the KPK has not yet detailed the amount of the alleged bribe or the identities of the suspected giver and receiver in the case.

During the sting operation conducted in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta, the KPK detained a total of 10 individuals. Of these, five people were brought to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta for intensive examination. The five individuals consist of three private sector parties, one civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and one family member of a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. The other parties are still undergoing examination as required by the investigation.

Amid the investigation, the KPK is still searching for Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby and the Regional Secretary of Kuantan Singingi Regency. Both were not found during the sting operation. The KPK has urged the two officials to be cooperative and surrender immediately so that the legal process can proceed effectively.
