KPK Reveals Sting Operation Against Muara Enim Regent Linked to Procurement

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the sting operation (OTT) that led to the arrest of Muara Enim Regent Edison is related to procurement processes.

“It concerns procurements within the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Monday, 8 June 2026.

Budi further explained that several state officials arrested in the operation are alleged to have received funds from private parties in connection with procurement projects in the Muara Enim Regency Government.

Previously, the KPK arrested Muara Enim Regent Edison in the 12th sting operation of 2026 in South Sumatra.

“That is correct,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto to journalists in Jakarta on Monday, 8 June 2026.

On a separate occasion, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the anti-corruption agency also arrested nine other individuals during the operation.

“The team secured ten people across the Jakarta and South Sumatra regions. Five individuals are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the regent, and the other five are from the private sector,” said Budi.

The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested in the sting operation, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). This operation marks the 12th sting operation conducted by the KPK so far in 2026.
