KPK Reveals Rp1.6 Billion Bribe Request to Alter BPK Audit Findings in Muara Enim
Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed a request for Rp1.6 billion to alter the findings of an audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of South Sumatra on the financial reports of the Muara Enim Regency Government for the 2025 fiscal year. Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein stated that the request was conveyed by a private individual named Augusz Dewanggara, also known as Angga (AGG alias ANG), to the Secretary of the Muara Enim Education and Culture Office, Abi Nurwardani (ABN), during a negotiation meeting. ‘In the negotiation, there was a fee requirement conveyed by AGG, amounting to approximately Rp1.6 billion,’ Taufik said at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta on Thursday. He added that Angga and Abi subsequently agreed on the amount of the reward for altering the BPK South Sumatra audit of the Muara Enim Regency Government. Taufik explained that the order to alter the BPK audit findings was given hierarchically by Edison during his tenure as Regent of Muara Enim. Edison initially instructed the Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the Muara Enim Regional Secretariat, Rusdi Hairullah, who had previously served as Head of the Education and Culture Office. Rusdi then asked Abi to handle the matter further. The KPK had previously arrested 10 individuals in a sting operation on 7-8 June 2026, with five arrests in Jakarta and five in South Sumatra. On 9 June 2026, the KPK named four suspects in a case of alleged bribery related to the procurement of goods and services and other gratuities within the Muara Enim Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The four suspects were Edison, Secretary of the Education and Culture Office Abi Nurwardani, PT Millenium Solusi Abadi marketing employee Cory Erin Hardi, and Adi Triyadi, who is Edison’s nephew. The KPK then conducted a follow-up sting operation on 10 June 2026, arresting five civil servants from the BPK RI. This operation marked the 13th sting conducted by the KPK throughout 2026. On 11 June 2026, the KPK announced the naming of five suspects: Edison, Cory Erin Hardi, PT Millenium Solusi Abadi Director Fika, private party Augusz Dewanggara, and BPK RI civil servant Titin Rita Lestari, who had served as Head of the BPK Audit Team for the South Sumatra Representative Office.
