KPK Reveals Regency Secretary and Officials Warned Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq was warned by the regency secretary and other officials about potential conflicts of interest in a decision favouring a family-owned company in the procurement of goods and services. Despite these warnings that the arrangement could create a conflict of interest and cause losses to the state, the regent continued the conduct, according to KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu speaking at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. He said the secretary to the Pekalongan Regency and other officials cautioned about the dangers of conflicts of interest in decisions awarding contracts to the governor’s family. The KPK also noted that Pekalongan has seen numerous measures to prevent corruption. In this case, Fadia Arafiq has claimed she did not realise she had engaged in corrupt activity, arguing that her background as a dangdut singer left her unfamiliar with governance and law. The KPK, however, states she has served as head of the region for two terms and understands that her actions breached the law. The agency described FAR as a former two-term regent who acknowledges her background but maintains she was unaware of legal and governance norms.
