The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed the reasons for arresting Suci Nitia Edwar, the second wife of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby, during a recent sting operation (OTT). The action was taken because she was present at the search location and was in possession of assets suspected to be related to the case.

Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the wife was detained because she was the only witness found at Suhardiman’s residence by the field team. In addition to her presence at the location, Taufik revealed that the regent’s second wife was found using a movable asset that was under the monitoring radar of the enforcement team as evidence.

She was secured because a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was being used by the regent’s second wife, and the vehicle’s status was no longer under a lease as it had been fully paid off. Through this arrest, KPK investigators aim to further investigate the origins of the ownership of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar, valued at IDR 700 million. The luxury car is strongly suspected to be part of a dowry or evidence in the alleged bribery case surrounding the sale of the position of Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department in Kuansing in 2021.

The anti-corruption agency conducted a marathon OTT in Kuansing Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026. In the 14th silent operation of 2026, officers secured a total of 10 individuals. Five of those caught were taken to the KPK’s Red and White Building for intensive examination, including three private parties, a state civil apparatus (ASN) from the Kuansing Regency Government, and Suci Nitia Edwar.

The KPK then issued a firm appeal compelling Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain to surrender on 30 June 2026. Both complied with the ultimatum and were immediately picked up by investigators upon their arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. On Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the KPK officially named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects. In addition to the bribery case involving the sale of positions, the KPK is now also targeting Suhardiman regarding alleged gratuities related to the release of a Limited Production Forest (HPT) area.
